William Barton (the area was named after him) built a home there in 1837, just a few years before the creek became a popular resort area. Back in the 1880’s a local newsman referred to the area as “Austin’s Eden”. That pristine aura persists even today. Barton Creek has a temperate climate with 300 days of sunshine annually, and average temperatures of about 50° in the winter and 90° in the summer.
