Austin Film Festival - Advance showings of films featuring relative unknowns and Hollywood’s top stars, plus world class documentaries. In theatres all over Austin. Also features conferences for those who want to break into the business. October.
Zachary Scott Theatre  - The oldest theatre in central Texas, The Zach produces professional theatre of all types on two different stages  – from “Rocky Horror Picture Show” to the “Rockin’ Christmas Party.” Also operates a Youth Theatre called Project Intact.
Zilker Theatre Productions - Strictly a summer company with productions held under the stars, Zilker has produced award-winning theatre events for almost 50 years. Located in Zilker Park.
Umlauf Sculpture and Garden Park  - Over 130 sculptures, drawings and paintings by the noted American artist.
The Governor’s Mansion - A must-see. Built around 1856, tours are informative and very entertaining.

Southwest Music, Film, and Interactive Festival -  Submit your latest musical creation, or film, or technological invention at SXSW, Austin’s answer to everything creative. Festivals occur in the spring, usually in March. Log onto their website to register your exhibit.
Urban Musical Festival - Austinites think of it as a giant family reunion. Kids, old folks, and everybody in between gettin’ down with big music, food, fun and games. Catfish, gumbo, fajitas, and of course fried oreos. Early April.
Cinco de Mayo - Few cities in the United States celebrate Cinco de Mayo like Austin. Lavish food, dancing, fireworks, salsa (the music and the hot sauce), kids, and fun-fun-fun.
Austin City Limits Music Festival  - 3 days, 8 Stages, 130 bands, usually in September. One of the highlights of the year.

Austin Children’s Museum  - Designed especially for babies through 9-year-olds, the ustin Kid’s Museum features interactive attractions that stimulate fun and learning.

IMAX Theatre - A six-story screen with 2D and 3D capabilities. It could only be more thrilling if you were actually in the movie itself!
Just For Fun Watercraft Rentals - Lake Travis is the place to be for water sports in Austin. Ski boats, jet skis, and Waverunners are sure to kick up some surf.
Inner Space Cavern - About 45 minutes north of Austin, Inner Space Cavern lets kids have a totally cool experience and learning something about geology at the same time.
Iron Rock Raceway - Real rock kart racing at high speeds. Iron Rock Raceway is one of only three locations in the U.S. that offer kart racing.
Bats of the Congress Avenue Bridge - Imagine the sky filled with thousands of bats, swooping to eat all the insects out of the air. Weird and Fascinating.
Austin Nature and Science Center - 80 acres of interactive exhibits, including crystal caverns and dinosaur tracks.
Haunted Texas  - A spirited look at Austin and its history.
The Dinosaur Park - Learn about the dinosaurs that once roamed the area, including a few from the Jurassic period.
Kiddie Acres - Rides, miniature golf, and fun for the little ones.

“Austin City Limits”  - Tour the award-winning PBS show in studio 6-A at station KLRU on the University of Texas at Austin campus on Fridays at 10:30a.m. Or see the show live by calling (512) 475-9077 to find out where this week’s rotating ticket outlet will be, and run—tickets go QUICK.
Threadgills  - Austin’s live music scene started here, at a filling station-cum-eatery, where the likes of Janis Joplin got their start.
Live from the Plaza at City Hall  - An example of just how pro-music Austin’s city government  is. The Plaza at City Hall showcases a diverse range of local talent. Bring your lunch or buy the weekly special for $6 (includes tax).
